Q: What will I be facing for not completing Community service in time? I am on a year probation for DUI and would terminate on the 4th of this month. I have finished all other obligations and fees except community service and my final reporting date is the eleventh. Just wondering what I will be facing.

Answered . Each of the 20 Judicial Circuits in the State of Florida have their own practices and procedures, and each of the Judges in each of the Judicial Circuits also have their own individual particularities.
Where I primarily practice, in Miami-Dade County (and assuming that you have no other complications whatsoever with your case and the only thing "missing" is complete CSH's), the typical answer to this question would be that, depending upon your Judge, you would either be permitted more time to complete the CHS's, or you would be permitted to "buy" them out (@ $10.00 / hr) or you would simply be "unsuccessfully" terminated from your probation; but that is here, not Gainesville.
The best advise that I can give you is to talk to a criminal defense lawyer whose practice is primarily located in Gainesville and who has significant experience in your Judge's courtroom. While Avvo (and similar sites) are wonderful sources of generic information it is critical to bear in mind that each case, and each Defendant, is /are different, and as every case is also a fluid experience, there is only so much that any lawyer can tell you about your case on-line; in short there is no substitute for an in person face-to-face consultation. Although I practice primarily in Miami-Dade County please feel free to contact my office for a referral or two, or you can search the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers website by locality (please seehttp://www.facdl.org ).
