Meet 29 y/o Evelyn Grace Campell.... that's her below: Note that she is NOT Maretta Ruth Gamble.
Apparently the perfect storm ensured when A) A bondsman showed up at the local jail looking to bond out Maretta Ruth Gamble; B) Guards called out for "Maretta Ruth Gamble"; C) Evelyn Grace Campell stepped forward; D) The guards were confused by the similar sounding name and E) The bondsman, who was there for Gamble, wound up accepting Campell's representation that she was who she claimed to be even though she had no identification.
Evelyn managed a day of freedom before she smartly surrendered the following day (the incident occurred on June 6th, 2014), and she was sentenced to 9-24 months in state prison for escape. (Note that in FL - I have no idea what the law calls for in PA where this occurred - "escape" is a 2nd degree felony punishable by up to 15 years in state prison.)
So? The $64,000.00 question: Was it worth it? Was a day worth 9 - 24 months?
That's my answer.
