St. Thomas University Law Student is Arrested at Ultra for Sale of MDMA ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Meet 24 y/o Hector Acosta, a St. Thomas University Law Student (for the moment).  That's his booking photo below...

Hector, like many others attended the 2015 Ultra Music Festival in the 305 this past weekend.

And, like many others, Hector is alleged to have been involved with MDMA (a/k/a Ecstasy or Molly).

According to the cops Hector was caught selling MDMA during Ultra (which is a 2nd degree felony in Florida), and his problems were compounded by his allegedly having attacked a security guard, earning him an additional charge of battery, and he somehow managed to gain a trespass count as well (both of which are misdemeanors).  Hector is fortunate that he didn't also get charged with panhandling (sales without a permit).

Assuming that he is both permitted to continue his legal education at St. Thomas U (the Honor Code may or may not cause him additional administrative issues) and that he graduates, Hector may not be as fortunate when it comes to the "passing" the "character and fitness" portion of the Florida Bar application process.

Hector must first defend his pending criminal case, and he must also abide by his court ordered pre-trial house arrest (which permits him to leave home only to go to court and school). Assuming that he neither gets bounced out of law school nor becomes a "guest of the State", if he manages to graduate law school and pass the written portions of the Bar exam then Hector must still demonstrate that he has "proof of good moral character" (i.e. "pass" the "character and fitness" portion of the Florida Bar application process).  A link to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners Application process FAQ can be found here and I strongly suggest that Hector read it, carefully.  While felony arrests do not per se preclude admission to the Florida Bar they sure as heck will significantly complicate the process, guaranteed (even in the best case scenario) to cost Hector a great deal of time, money and aggravation.  Memo to Hector:
