A men's restroom at a Muncie, Indiana Walmart was being used as a "shake and bake" meth lab....
The "shake and bake" method of cooking meth - where the chemicals which are used to make the drug are mixed in two (2) liter bottles, left to chemically combine and are then later cooked in an oven until crystallized - has become more popular as people who make methamphetamine are leaving the deadly explosive chemicals used to make the drug in public places rather than risking explosions and contamination at their own homes. In this case, a men's restroom at a Muncie, Indiana Wal-Mart has been closed after an employee discovered a working meth lab inside.
Indiana State Police say that a Wal-Mart employee alerted them after witnessing a man that he described as "suspicious" enter the men's restroom about 11:30 pm on Thursday, March 12th, 2015 with a backpack and then leave without it. Police responded and determined that there was a miniature meth lab inside of the backpack, containing chemicals inside of two (2) liter bottles which are used to "cook" the drug and which were being "mixed" in containers. Mixing the chemicals runs a huge risk of explosion, with the blast of one bottle capable of killing someone, so Delaware County, Indiana Health Department inspectors closed the restroom and a nearby women's restroom until they could be decontaminated by a professional cleaning company.
Unfortunately the discovery of such "shake and bake meth labs" are becoming more and more routine for authorities.
Meth... It's a nasty drug....
