Ohio Cops Use Social Media to Seek Fugitive who Replies to Facebook Post & Turns Himself In ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Meet 21 y/o Andrew Dale Marcum.   That's him below....

A.D. Marcum had several warrants and was wanted by the Butler County Sheriff's Office for charges ranging from burglary to abduction, but the authorities were unsuccessful in locating him at his last known address, so, on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2015 they went to social media and posted a sort of 21st century "Wanted Poster", seen below...

And 'ole A.D. himself chimed in on Facebook, replying, unintelligibly, "I ain't tripping half of them don't even know me".  Albert Dunaway, a Facebook user also had something to contribute to the discussion, commenting: "Lol I find this funny....  robo cops sending out speeding tickets meanwhile, our boys in blue track down criminals on FB and attempt to convince them to "come on down!"". This prompted a reply from the Sheriff's Office that "Hey, it doesn't hurt to ask", to which Albert Dunaway responded "Fair enough".  In the interim the Sheriff had also posted a pic of a jail cell on Twitter, seen below, stating "Hey Andrew Marcum we've got your room ready"...

And apparently the Sheriff's Office social media's "wanted" ad campaign worked because the following day, on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2015, 'ole A.D. in fact turned himself in.  Per the Butler County Sheriff's Office:  "Andrew Dale Marcum will be off Facebook temporarily, because there is no social media access in the Butler County Jail.  He's turned himself in. Thanks to out Facebook and Twitter friends for helping turn up the heat."

Memo to the Folks:   Cops and prosecutors are turning more and more to social media in an effort to do their jobs (i.e. make arrests, gather evidence and secure convictions).  Accordingly, I urge you to look at "Haber's Rules of Social Media # 1-5", which you can find here, and to govern yourselves accordingly.  Forewarned is forearmed!
