But seriously, Afton wants to marry Charlie not just for the, er, um, obvious reasons, and apparently this is not just some spur of the moment rash decision. This is true love. Why else would Afton have moved from her humble Midwestern home at the ripe age of 17 to Corcoran, CA (home to Charlie's prison) where she has spent the past 9 years (more than 1/3rd of her life) visiting with Charlie and maintaining various websites which proclaim his innocence. One such site is MansonDirect.com
Apparently as his wife Afton, who prefers to be called "Star", will get access to information which will help Charlie's "case" and which is otherwise unavailable to non-relatives. Since she is too old to be lawfully adopted this is as close as Star can get to being Charlie's "next of kin". (Plus, they get to have a real live wedding with an off-site official to perform the service before up to 10 of their closest non-incarcerated friends. I'm sure that Ma and Pa Burton will be thrilled to attend.... Who am I kidding, this creepy ceremony would leave even Tim Burton shaking in his shoes while standing in a puddle of his own pee.
