Can I get a Bond after Conviction but before Sentencing? ~ Best Answer on AVVO ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Q:     Can someone be released on bond after being sentenced in the federal court awaiting appeal?  Father in law found guilty on securities fraud and conspiracy and sentenced to 75 months in Miami. He wants to try and get an appeal bond while awaiting his appeal? Is this possible?

Answered Yes, BUT possible and probable are 2 different things. You will need to sit down and have a face-to-face meeting with a criminal defense lawyer who focuses on federal appeals.

Once again, there is no lack of qualified federal practicioners here in the 305 who handle federal appellate matters. Time is of the essence (as has been pointed out) so if you want to pursue that avenue then you'd better get on it stat.

Although I practice primarily in Miami-Dade County, and while I do trial level federal work, I do not do appeals. However, I can recommend several excellent candidates for the task and you are welcome to contact my office for a referral or two, or you can search the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers website by locality (please see http://www.facdl.org/ - and click on the "Find A Lawyer" tab).

Either way best of luck!
