Milwaukee Father Falsely Confessed to Hit-and-Run Vehicular Homicide admits Lying to Protect his Son ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

A parents love knows no boundaries...

And a 45 y/o Milwaukee, WI father named Juan G. Silva Sr. (pictured below) is living proof of just how far a loving parent will go to protect his/her child...

Juan, Sr. has been behind bars for almost two (2) years now after having pleaded guilty to a fatal hit-and-run accident; however, Juan, Sr. was not driving the car that hit and killed the victim, nor was he even in the vehicle at the time.  Instead, the car that hit, killed and left the scene was being driven by Juan, Sr.'s son, 22 y/o Juan G. Silva Jr. (who is pictured below).

Nearly two (2) years ago Juan Sr. confessed to police that he was the man driving the vehicle that struck both Juan R. Zapata-Guerrero (pictured below) and his friend Angalee Jacobs as they left a tavern on September 28, 2013 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, killing Zapata-Guerrero and severely injuring Jacobs.

But now, almost two (2) years later, it has come to light that Juan, Sr. knowingly and intentionally falsely confessed to protect his son, Juan, Jr., who was the individual who was driving the vehicle, who caused the death and serious bodily injury and who fled the scene.  On Monday, July 27th, 2015 Juan Sr. took the witness stand and confessed that he had lied to both the police and the Court in the hopes of protecting his son from having to go to jail.

Juan, Sr.'s admission came after Claudia Sanchez, who works with Juan Sr.'s wife, told police that she had been told that Juan Jr. was the one who committed the crime and not his father.  Police questioned both Juan Jr. and his mother at which point the true story came out and Juan Jr. confessed to having been the driver.  Assistant District Attorney Grant Huebner said in court Monday that once Juan Sr. had heard that his son confessed to the crime he admitted that he had lied to police.  Juan, Sr. also said that his son had become "messed up in the head" knowing that his father was incarcerated for a crime that he did not commit.

After his false confession Juan Sr. had been given a five (5) year prison sentence from Milwaukee County Civil Court Judge Timothy Dugan, who is the same man who announced on Monday, July 27th, 2015  that he would be setting Juan, Sr. free. Judge Dugan also said that while lying in court is a serious offense and that the reopening of this case has made life more difficult for the victims and their families, Juan Sr. would not face any additional charges.  Juan Jr., meanwhile, is now facing up to six (6) years in prison for fleeing /leaving the scene after hitting and killing 39 y/o Juan R. Zapata-Guerrero, a father of three (3) and at the same time striking and causing serious bodily injury to Angalee Jacobs, who had been walking with Zapata-Guerrero at the time and who herself suffered a broken leg, broken ribs, torn ligaments in her knee and developed a gash on her head that required nine staples to close.

On the night of the accident Juan Jr. did not say anything when he arrived at home that night, but the next day he toild his father that he may have hit a dog while driving home.  Meantime, Juan, Sr., having seen news reports of the deadly accident turned himself in, telling authorities that his windshield wipers were broken and that he had been on his phone when the crash occurred.
