Fallen Cop's Widow and his K-9 Partner Pay Tribute to him in a very Moving Photo Shoot ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

This is a very sad but at the same time a most heart-warming story.  Ironically, it's almost the story, of a man named Brady, who was bring up three (3)....  Almost....

But instead it is the story of recently deceased Ligonier Township Pennsylvania Police Department Officer Eric Eslary, divorced father of three, and his new wife, Mary Beth Taylor-Eslary, divorced mother of three, who got married a few years ago when Mary had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and as Eric wanted to ensure she and her kids would be cared for.

It is also the story of "Blek", Eric's loyal K-9 partner who, since Eric died, has kept watch over Mary, her three kids and her three step-kids...

Eric was killed by a drunk driver in a head-on collision on May 5th, 2015.  Blek, age six (6) was also critically injured in the accident.  Blek suffered a ruptured disc, spinal cord bruising and a ruptured spleen in the crash, was treated by vets and, per Mary, he has made a 95% recovery.  That said, enter photographer Christy Boyd (you can see Christy's Facebook Page "Memories by Christy" by clicking here), the Taylor-Eslary's (Brady Bunch's) own personal "Alice" / Ann B. Davis.

Christy is not a house-keeper, but she does make keepsakes, and for Mary she made her piece d' resistance.  Christy, who lost her own step-son in a car crash in 2008, felt Mary's pain and offered to do a photo-shoot in rememberance of Eric. Christy suggested the idea to Mary after coming across a similar series featuring Rebecca Jones, another police officer's widow who's husband died last year, and her three (3) young children in Norfolk, Virginia, and the photo shoot was carried out - free of charge - on June 28.  Said Mary, who has set up a scholarship fund in her own step-son's name (which you can access here):  "I just wanted it to be perfect.  To me, this is telling their love story."  In the sequence of 12 images, the pair pose with signs detailing their love for Eric (I have posted them all here but you can also see them on Christy's Facebook Page, as well as Mary's reply: "I took a deep breath when I saw this post today... and looking slowly at each one I was just blown away. Your strength is inspiring. These photos you have shared with everyone are a gift... a beautiful reminder."

And then there's my personal favorite, a photo of Mary's new back tattoo, depicting angels lying on top of Eric's police badge with a blue and black ribbon (which is symbol of mourning for police officers) running through it...

Mary says that she still hears Eric's voice around the house following his death.  "It's hard to believe it's over.  A true love story. It really was. He was the love of my life, for sure."  However, their marriage was abruptly cut short when Eric was struck as he was returning home with Blek from an overnight shift which they had finished safe and sound.  While Eric and Blek were serving and protecting Clair Fink, III had spent his evening drinking beer before he got behind the wheel headed east in the westbound lanes of Route 30 shortly before 2 am on May 6th, 2015.  Fink smashed into Eric's SUV, and Eric died an hour later in hospital.  And now Mary's family is incomplete.  All of the photo albums in the world will never fill the gap in their hearts and souls.  Memo to all LEO's:  Wishing you safe shifts and nothing but warms embraces from your families afterward.

When it comes to the subject of drinking and driving, the best advice that you are ever going to hear is:  "Don't do it!  Get a DD (Designated Driver), not a DUI".

Be smart{er than Clair Fink, III}: Don't drink and drive, but, if you do, just say "NO{thing}", don't blow (in FL your 2nd subsequent refusal is a crime) and call me stat at 305-381-8686, 305-798-2220 or 1-888-SHARK-8-1.
