Fugitive Sex Predator is Arrested & Pops Sodium Cyanide Pill while in Police Car to avoid return to Prison ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Meet 51 y/o Robert Lindsay.  That's him below...

As authorities searched for him in an effort to serve a probation warrant for his failure to register as a sexual predator in Maryland in 2013 Bob was on the lamb.    On July 28th, 2015 he was located in Golden, Colorado.  Bob was reportedly dragged from the shop where he was working but before he could be put in a jail cell he began to sweat profusely and hen collapsed in the back of a police cruiser.  Bob was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, leaving authorities perplexed.

With Bob's cause of death unclear (apparently cyanide poisoning is so rare that medical examiners don't routinely check for it) it took a tip from one of his family members to solve the mystery.  Upon hearing is his death a family member reportedly called authorities in Colorado and told them to check for traces of cyanide, advising that Bob kept the poison with him in case he was ever threatened with having to go back to jail.  Per Golden Police Capt. Joe Harvey:  "It was the family who gave us that clue.  It's very seldom when you have someone walking around with their escape clause.  It's not something you see every day."

Forensic investigators determined that Bob had safely the pill with him in a screw-top container, and an investigation which formally concluded on Monday, September 14th, 2015 officially cleared Golden police of any wrongdoing in Lindsay's death.

For those of you who have an interest in cyanide read this:

CYANIDE: A QUICK BUT AGONIZING WAY TO DIE:

Even tiny amounts of less than 0.1 grams of cyanide can leave victims to die a quick but agonizing death.
Cyanide gas has been used in warfare, to administer the death penalty in California and to control pests.
In 1995, a Japanese doomsday cult tried to release it on to the Tokyo underground, but the plot was foiled. Earlier that year the same group killed 12 people with sarin nerve gas.
Iraq used cyanide in its attack on the Kurdish village of Halabja in 1988. Five thousand people died and many were discovered sitting exactly where they were when the gas hit, their systems paralyzed from within.
Professor Patrick Vallance, director of the Center for Clinical Pharmacology who drew up guidelines on cyanide poisoning after September 11, said: ' Cyanide gets into the body's cells and stops them being able to use oxygen properly. But it is quite difficult to get enough cyanide into the right place.
'It is extremely toxic but it is not always a terribly effective poison. As one of the classic poisons of detective fiction, along with strychnine and arsenic, it is more effective when used against a single victim.'
Experts agree that it is most deadly when ingested or inhaled in high concentrations, especially in an enclosed environment-such. Sufferers will first feel nausea, then dizziness, confusion, loss of co-ordination, rapid deep breathing and gasping, followed by muscle spasms and loss of consciousness.
Most people cannot smell cyanide until levels become too high to be safe. Then it can smell like bitter almonds.
Even several years after exposure to low levels of cyanide, it can cause birth defects and nerve damage affecting hearing, vision and muscle co-ordination.
Cyanide gas can be found in industrial emissions and car exhaust, cigarette smoke and certain papers and plastics as they burn. It is used in metal cleaning operations and as an industrial bug killer.

Robert Lindsay may have been many things (he reportedly had an extensive criminal history in Maryland including convictions for narcotics offenses, violent crimes and he was even designated as a sexually violent predator) but in the end he also proved himself to be considerate by saving the taxpayers plenty of money on extradition, trial and costs related to incarceration.
