On Sunday, August 2nd, 2015 Dan and Larry were shopping at a bodega in Soho (in NYC) when a 40-year-old man began an anti-gay hate filled rant, yelling obscenities at them and then bizarrely punching Daniel in the face (which, for many reasons was a BAD MOVE a real bad move). You see Dan and Larry are not just this gay couple....
They are also this gay couple... West Point Military Academy graduates and the first gay couple to have been married at West Point Military Academy. Larry Choate III, class of 2009, married Daniel Lennox, class of 2007, before about twenty (20) guests in November of 2013.
Larry taught Sunday school at the U.S. Military Academy's Cadet Chapel and said he always thought of it as the place he would get married if he could. Daniel has a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard and served in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
And so when the unnamed hateful douchebag unexpectedly sucker-punched Daniel in the face Larry immediately came to his husband's defense, literally beating the attacker to the ground. In a subsequent Facebook post (pictured below) Larry wrote: "...The guy who screamed anti-gay obscenities at us in a bodega before sucker-punching Danny? He left covered in his own blood with his tail between his legs after I handled the situation and tossed him in the street like the coward loser he is...".
Memo to Larry and Daniel: Props, respect and best wishes. Memo to the hateful, beaten and bloodied douchebag: You got most of what you deserved, but a well-deserved hate crime battery charge and ensuing prosecution would be nice icing for you. Btw - Speaking of icing, I hope that you are proud of your douchebaggerous self as you ice your wounds. Live and let live you assclown. You don't have to be gay, or even "like" that other people are gay, but you do have to keep your douchebaggery to yourself.
