Meet 35 y/o Holly Hogue Edwards, a GA criminal defense lawyer. That's her below...
Holly was admitted to practice law in 2005 and served as a Public Defender before going into private practice in 2009, but she may also have moonlighted as an under the counter pharmacologist. On Monday, August 17th, 2015 Holly, a married mother of two (2) was arrested (after having been Indicted) on federal drug charges for allegedly selling oxycodone and methamphetamine to undercover agents.
In conjunction with the feds Houston County, GA Sheriffs pulled Holly over in a traffic stop on Interstate 75 at about 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 17th, 2015 to serve her with her arrest warrant. The only thing that authorities have stated about the case is that their investigation into Holly started after sources identified her as a source of drugs and also as a user.
Holly reportedly appeared for her preliminary hearing on Monday wearing teal high heels, a blue patterned skirt, and handcuffs around her wrists. She was appointed a Federal Public Defender at the hearing and United States Magistrate Judge Charles Weigle reportedly said that his decision to appoint a public defender to represent Holly was "a bit of a close call." The Judge then told Holly that the government can seek reimbursement for attorneys fees if it is determined that she has money to pay for her own defense. Holly pleaded not guilty to all the charges and she was released on $15,000 bond.
As word of the criminal defense lawyers' arrest quickly spread Holly's husband Blake Edwards (the couple is pictured below) reasonably rushed to his wife's defense on Facebook on Tuesday.
Blake wrote: "I am absolutely shocked at some of the comments people (including my 'friends') are making about what is happening with my beautiful wife. Some of you think this is funny?!?!?! FUNNY???? Glad this is happening?!?!?! Think it's funny to our children?!?!? She is the best mom our kids could've ever asked for and they don't deserve to be ridiculed. I guess everybody believes what the media writes these days? Well the constitution that she believes in so much says that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Thank you to our countless amount of friends and family for their support through this difficult time!!!! I will forever have y'all's back. To the people running their mouth talking shit on the Internet, send me a PRIVATE message and say it directly to ME!! Ya gotta understand Blake love da kids!!! We ride or die, and if you ain't down with that I got 2 words for ya....."
Memo to Blake: FYI, unlike local, municipal or even state law enforcement, the feds generally take their time and painstakingly gather evidence prior to seeking an Indictment and making an arrest. I am not condemning Holly, I am just telling you how it is... ergo the ridiculously high conviction rate in federal criminal court. I wish you and your family the best but I encourage you to prepare for the worst. That said, I love the DX reference....
