On Thursday, June 25th, 2015, #99 (that was Warren Sapp's career NFL designation) a warrant was issued for Sapp's arrest in Sin City alleging that he committed three (3) counts of domestic abuse against his long-term girlfriend (of five (5) years), Chaylce Moore. Below is a picture of the couple in happier times...
And below is #99 in his February 2nd, 2015 Phoenix, AZ booking photo....
Just about six (6) weeks before this most recent late-June arrest #99 had pled guilty to a pair of misdemeanor charges, one (1) for solicitation of prostitution and the other for assault (of said prostitute) which occurred in a Phoenix, AZ hotel room the morning after he had been an NFL analysis for the 2015 Super Bowl. Apart from the public humiliation and all of the aggravation the comes with a criminal prosecution, Sapp was also fired by the NFL Network over the incident. (You can watch Sapp's AZ video taped interrogation / confession here.)
Although the AZ charges were ultimately dropped, those weren't #99's first brush with the law related to, er, issues with females. Sapp had been previously arrested in Miami, FL on domestic battery charges, coincidentally also as he was serving as an analysis for the NFL Network, but that time it was for Superbowl XLIV (you can read about that incident here and his 2010 Miami mug shot is below).
Sapp played thirteen (13) seasons in the NFL, his first nine (9) as a Tampa Bay Buc, and having retired as an Oakland Raider after his final four (4).
With 96.5 sacks in his career Sapp is presently #36 on the NFL's all time leader board (which can be viewed here). He was also considered to have been the cornerstone of the defense that played a major part in the Buccaneers' Superbowl win in 2003. Thus it was no surprise that Sapp was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2013.
Sadly, now with three (3) different arrests for "violence against women" (in three (3) different States and against three (3) different women), Sapp appears to be quickly working his way into induction into the Hall of Shame.
Memo to Warren Sapp: Wtf is wrong with you? You are quickly altering your reputation from being remembered as one of the quintessential DT's (defensive tackles) that ever played on the gridiron to "recidivist woman abuser". Please don't blame it on either concussions or the Bossonova (see the 49'ers George Seifert's great moment here)... Man up. Please, pretty please, read and take to heart the words of the great Sir Patrick Stewart...
