WA State Trooper Patiently Slow-Speed Escorts Senior Citizen on a Scooter for 4 Miles ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Meet Washington State Trooper Dave Hintz.  That is him below....

No that is not a mug shot.  Dave did not do anything wrong; In point of fact and quite to the contrary, Dave exhibited the finest qualities of protecting and serving when, while on routine patrol, he came upon a woman in her 80's who was traveling along State Route 546, a busy highway that runs parallel to the US-Canadian border, on an electric scooter.  The posted speed limit on the stretch of road near Lynden, WA is 45 mph but the unidentified senior, who told Dave that she had gotten lost after going out for coffee, topped out at 6 mph.  After turning her in the right direction Dave escorted the elderly woman all the way home, with his police lights flashing.

Per Dave:  "I wasn't trying to stop her. I wasn't trying to detain her. I was just trying to get her back to her home.  I just treated her the way I would've wanted somebody to treat my mom.  It's a pretty major state route where semis and cars travel."  On footage taken from the vehicle's dash cam Dave is heard saying:  "We're getting a ton of calls about you.  [State police verified that several witnesses had called 911 to report what they believed was a low-speed pursuit. "What it looked like at the time was this older lady on a Rascal cruising down the road" said Andrea Ruth, who caught the scene on video and uploaded it to her Instagram account.  Andrea said: "The cop car with the lights flashing going behind her is what caught my attention. You can't make that stuff up."]   Dave is heard saying: "Everybody's worried about you because you've been on and off the road."  After traveling about four miles away from home, it took more than an hour for Dave to escort the woman back, including one stop where he's seen dislodging the scooter from the side of the road.  The 24-year veteran had never heard of such a situation happening before, but said it was simply a part of the job.  "Our motto with the State Patrol is service with humility. This particular case took a little more patience and humility but I wouldn't have done it any differently."

Props to Washington State Trooper Dave Hintz!   I ♥ a good cop story.
