Man uses White-Out to Alter his Vehicle's License Plate Number; Cops Arrest him and Post Pics on "Chinese Twitter" with Comment that "It is an Insult to our IQ" ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1




Here's a novel one....  A car owner in Chengdu, southwest China was arrested after being stopped for driving a vehicle with a licence plate that had obviously been altered.



To his credit, the Chinese car owner was consistent, altering both the front and rear license plates...



The car owner changed the licence plate numbers from 772 to 998, and act which the local police officer reportedly described as being an "insult to his intelligence".
Apparently these alterations are commonplace in China where vehicles reportedly have to be checked every 15 years and if they fail a check they could be sent to the scrap heap and have their license plates cancelled.  Naturally, some people choose to alter their license plates or buying fraudulent ones in an attempt to keep their cars. But law enforcement agencies and officers are generally not stupid and, knowing that the Chinese New Year is a peak time for police to catch traffic offences as everyone heads to their hometown to spend the festive period with their families, cops were on the lookout.  
As it turns out this particular car owner admitted to using "white out" to alter his license plates.


After arresting the driver the Chengdu Police uploaded the images to their social media account on China's Twitter-like site called "Weibo", prompting citizen replies such as "It looks like the numbers were altered by a child" and "I feel like I've been insulted too".
