Take a look at this video footage (click here) of road rage incident which occurred when a group of bikers who were motoring down a Boulder City, NV highway angered the driver of a red pick-up truck, who believed that the bikers were being "erratic" and "creating traffic issues"'.
After the video went viral both the motorcyclist and the pick-up driver gave interviews to Fox 5 / KVVU (which you can read here). Per the motorcyclist: "It was definitely scary. I didn't even realize the guy had his finger on the trigger until I went back and reviewed the video myself. My heart was just racing, my stomach turned, and I was feeling sick. That's literally the first time I've got up to somebody's window in traffic like that and it will be the last." Per the pick-up driver: "Undoubtedly, it startled me and I pulled my gun out and I was prepared for him, and it's just that simple." When he was asked if his hand was on the trigger, he said: "Yes it was, and it was there for a reason. If I had issues I was gonna use it. I have a concealed handgun license, I've been trained to use it and I will." He added that he would pull his gun again.
In the meantime local police are reportedly conducting further investigation into the incident and are considering whether to issue an arrest warrant for either of the men in the truck.
Memo to the Folks: I am a gun owner, a concealed weapons permitted citizen and I have no lost love for douche baggerous motorcyclists (** note I am referring to those who do not respect and follow road rules and traffic law because they are too cool for school... not all motorcyclists), but in no way, shape or form do I condone what the pick-up driver did in this case. Brandishing a firearm for self-defense requires a true (both subjectively and objectively true) fear for your life, not just an excuse to do so. Depending upon your State you may or may not have a DUTY to retreat before pulling out your gun but, in my humble opinion, standing your ground is only necessary where it is truly necessary. If I had been driving that pick-up then I'd've run that light before I drew my gun, but that's me.
After exchanging a few choice words as they passed one another, the motorcyclist , who was wearing a GoPro helmet camera, decided to tap on the driver's door when they pulled up at a set of traffic lights, and as the passenger wound down the window the driver menacingly pointed a gun at the motorcyclist's head.
The ensuing conversation went as follows:
Car Passenger: "Get the f*** away from the car."
Motorcyclist: "Why are you guys flipping me off? I didn't do nothing."
Car Driver: "You're all about to f****** get shot. Seriously."
Motorcyclist: "Take it easy man. I didn't do nothing."
Car Passenger: "Driving round like f****** clowns".
Motorcyclist: "o you're gonna pull your gun out?"
Car Driver: "I sure the f*** will."
After which the motorcyclist wisely sped away.
