An 8 y/o FL Boy Steals his Mom's Gun from her Purse & is captured on a Surveillance Camera Robbing a Grocery Store with the Loaded Handgun ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

An 8 year old Florida boy was taken into custody after he stole his mother's handgun and attempted to rob King Foods in West Palm Beach, a local grocery store.

Surveillance video captured the boy, wearing his bike helmet, entering the store and heading to an aisle, and employees said the boy, whose first name is Jaden, walked around for a minute before he went up to the cash register, pointed the gun and said "Give me the money".

Per employee Robert Espinal:  "At the moment I didn't know if it was a real gun or fake.  But I took it seriously." Surveillance footage also showed another employee springing into action and twisting the boy's wrist so he could take the gun away.

Jaden's mother, Eboni Alls, said that her son had told her that he was going to the park to play and gave her a hug before he left on his bike and that she didn't know that anything was amiss until she picked up her purse.  "It was so light. I knew I was missing something. I said, 'Where's my gun?'  "The first thing I thought was I hope Jaden don't have my gun."

Cops arrived, took 8 year old Jaden into custody and determined that the gun had been loaded but that, fortunately, there was no bullet in the chamber.

Jaden has been released from detention, will be diverted out of the juvenile justice system and, for reasons unknown, his mother will not be charged with any criminal negligence or wrongdoing.  As he allegedly made comments about hurting himself, as a part of his diversionary program Jaden is reportedly set to undergo a mental health evaluation.

Memo to the Folks:  If you own guns and have children then please, pretty please, make sure that your firearms are secured 100% of the time, 24/7.  There is no excuse for letting a child get her or his paws on a firearm, and if you are responsible for doing so then, frankly, you deserve to be held criminally accountable, whether or not any actual harm comes from your negligence or, even worse, from recklessness.
