Distraction. It can suck....
But sometimes it can be downright dangerous.
And on Tuesday, January 26th, 2016, described by the Orange County, Florida Sheriff's Department, a Deputy Sheriff has personified this concept.
While preparing to start his 7:00 pm shift the unnamed Deputy left his AR-15 on the trunk of his car... and drove off. The "patrol rifle" has been described as a "black, semi-automatic, .223-caliber Colt AR-15 with a 20-inch barrel and serial No. A0091856 inside a black case with three loaded magazines".

According to the statement released by the Orange County Sheriff's Department the unnamed Deputy "became distracted and drove off before securing it [the weapon] inside his vehicle."
More shocking, however, is the fact that the unnamed Deputy failed to realize that the weapon was missing until some eight (8) hours later at about 3:15 am on Wednesday, January 27th, 2016.
To date there is no word on whether the AR has been returned to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
