The Jackson County, Mississippi Courthouse. Yes, it's a sexy building, but that's not what's got local folks all hot and bothered....
Per multiple news reports at least 350 Jackson County, Mississippi Jury summons' were recently mailed out to potential jurors with an incorrect phone number, and the listed phone number reportedly instructed them to call a phone sex hot line.
Per Circuit Court Clerk Randy Carney says people started calling his office to report the problem on Monday, February 1st, 2016, while others stopped by in person to address the issue. Carney said that he didn't know what caused the mix-up and he drafted an apology letter that will go out those who received the summons' with the, er, "bad connection".
"Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused..." says the letter, with the Clerk reportedly indicating that he will personally be reviewing future summons' before they are mailed out hence forth. Carney could not definitively answer who would be responsible were any of the potential juror's to receive a bill after inadvertently calling the phone sex service. Memo to the Folks:
