Why would my fiancee not show as an inmate when i know he is in jail? ~ "Best Answer" on AVVO ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Q:     Why would my fiancee not show as an inmate when i know he is in jail?  He was picked up on a warrant in Miami regarding a south Carolina case 5 days ago and I still haven't heard from him. when I search it says he isn't an inmate but when I called they said he is there.

Answered The reason that you cannot find him is because some genius at the jail mistyped (inaccurately entered) his name into the system. I guarantee you that he's there, he's just inside under a misspelled name.

Sadly this happens all too often.  It is a pain in the butt. You would think that Miami-Dade Corrections would have a phonetic ("sounds like") speller or that it would give you a list of similar names but, alas, it does not. The Miami-Dade County Clerk of Courts' website does, but unless your fiance has a local charge he won't have been entered into the Clerk's system (on a fugitive warrant with no substantive case he will only be in the Correction's database).

Anyhow, I guarantee you (and guarantees are tough to come by in this industry) that this is the reason for your dilemma.

In the interim  hope that I have been helpful in answering your question.
