Meet 38 y/o Lori Whitley and her husband 41 y/o Gary. That's their mug shots below.
Lori has been a 3rd grade school teacher Wendell Elementary School (pictured below) in the Wake County, NC Public School district since 2002.
It is unknown how long that she and her hubby have been operating a meth lab inside of their Zebulan, NC home, which is both about 24 miles east of Raleigh and pictured below.
Regardless, yesterday, on Friday, May 15th, 2015 Johnston County Sheriff's Deputies served a search warrant on the residence and walked away with all of the equipment necessary to make methamphetamine and now Lori & Gary are looking at a combined total of a dozen charges, which include but are not limited to the manufacture of methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance and child abuse.
Lori & Gary's next door neighbor Bernard Brodie, who lives next door, reportedly said that he had recently noticed a strong chemical odor coming from house but that he had no clue that an illegal drug operation might be there. He called Lori Whitley "a good lady" and, in regard to the situation he reportedly opined that "It's unreal. It's unreal". Lori has been suspended from the school district with pay pending an internal investigation and the 8 y/o child is now in the custody of Social Services.
Memo to Lori (and Gary): "Breaking Bad" was Hollywood entertainment, not a road map to supplement teacher's salary. Before ruining your career, endangering your child and no doubt scarring the boy for life (DCF has a way of doing that) you might have considered other alternatives, like, for instance, cupcake sales or becoming a nail technician....
