Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the Boston Bomber, who is pictured below flipping off the world, has just gotten the death penalty, and I, for one, am freaking thrilled about it.
Yeah, I know that many folks think that killing him sends the wrong message, that it'll make a martyr out of him and serve only to promote more terrorism but I disagree. The folks that would consider him a martyr already do. The folks that will take up arms against the US (and anyone else who dares to think and act differently than they do) will do so anyhow. Killing this piece of sh*t will make no difference whatsoever, except that U.S. tax-payers won't have to support him for the next 60 or 70 years. I don't author this blog post as a lawyer but I do so as a man, a father and a private citizen. And I do so fully aware that many of my colleagues would fervently disagree with my position on this matter, whether because they are "anti-death penalty" or because they simply cannot fathom how someone like me - a veteran criminal defense lawyer who has sworn to uphold the Constitution - can live with the dichotomy of believing in protecting people from the government and wanting the government to take a life. And to them I say this: Look close, you see that down there? Those are the faces of evil. Pure, unadulterated, f*cking evil.
The one on the right with the black ball cap, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, he's already dead (I'm sure he's loving every minute of the afterlife with his 72 virgins... NOT) and this one? Well let's just say that I'm absolutely thrilled that these brothers will be reunited, that and that their blissful reunion cannot possibly come quickly enough.
Below is but a little of the aftermath of what the brother's Tsarnaev KNOWINGLY, INTENTIONALLY and VOLUNTARILY did....
Eighteen (18) innocent bystanders lost limbs and four (4) people, including an eight (8) year old boy, were among the victims that this piece of sh*t murdered in cold and calculated blood. First, eight (8) y/o Martin Richard... DEAD... BLOWN UP....
Second, 29 y/o Krystle Campbell... DEAD... BLOWN UP....
Third, 23 y/o Lingzi Lu... DEAD... BLOWN UP....
Finally, 27 y/o M.I.T. / Sommerville Police Officer Sean A. Collier... DEAD... BLOWN UP....
Personally I am proud of the jury that decided to end Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and only wish that we could find a way to constitutionally serve up some poetic Sharia-styled justice for this trash.
Memo to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and all of your ILK: We, the FREE people of the world, do not want to be told who to worship and how we must live our sentient lives. Nor do we strive to tell you what to believe or how to live your lives either. But we will tell you not to attempt to force your ideals upon us, we will insist that you NOT use violence against us in an effort to impose your morality and if you do, well then...
The bottom line, although I'd personally like to see some Hammurabi styled justice imposed upon Dzhokhar, is that this is the U.S. of A and....
Memo to would-be Terrorists: You are on notice. Govern yourselves accordingly!
