Can I get my traffic tickets out of collections and make a payment plan with the court again? ~ "Best Answer" on AVVO ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Q:     Is it possible to get my traffic tickets out of collections and make a payment plan with the court again?  Long story short I have 5 tickets totaling 989.80 , 3 of them I had a payment plan with. I couldn't keep up with the payments so they suspended my license and sent them to collections, along with another ticket that was unpaid. I realize how I need to get my life on track & pay my debts but I really need my license back. I have the money to pay them off in full only without the 40% increase on the collection fees. Is it possible to get them out of collections and back into the court so I can pay it in full or create a payment plan with them again???

Answered Maybe.

I cannot speak to J-ville but in Miami, where I primarily practice, this is such a common occurrence that the Clerk's office has an internal mechanism to deal with these matters. In Miami an experienced traffic lawyer could help you quickly and efficiently. I suspect, but do not know, that J-ville has a similar procedure in place.

I suggest that you reach out to a local J-ville area traffic lawyer and hire one to assist you. Don't take this the wrong way but virtually any lawyer will be more competent than you (who has managed to get yourself into this position in the first place) to get you out of this mess.

If you choose to go it alone (which I urge you in the strongest of terms not to do) then I suggest that you contact the Clerk's Office directly and ask them what, if anything, their protocol is.

I hope that I have been helpful in answering your question.
