Douchebags of the Day:    Couple is arrested for shoplifting @ Walmart and say nothing about their 3 kids (aged 3, 5, and 7) who were in their car in the parking lot for 7 hours

At 7:00 pm yesterday the couple were arrested inside of the Lauderdale Lakes, Florida Walmart for Grand Theft (felony shoplifting).  They were transported by BSO deputies from the scene to the station and then to the jail for booking.  

Now I am a huge proponent of invoking Miranda rights as 999 or 1,000 times anything that you say to the cops can can and will be used against you.  (In fact, sometimes what you say can and will be altered, amended, twisted, torqued or otherwise made to fit the facts and circumstances as the cops see fit.)

Still, there are times where you should say certain things upon arrest, like, for example, your name, DOB, emergency contact, any necessary medical information (i.e. perhaps you are a diabetic or suffer seizures or have a heart condition....) and most especially, if you find yourself and your spouse being transported off the scene and carted to jail, then the fact that you left 3 children in a car in the parking lot would fall into this category.

In this case Douche and Douchette were arrested at about 7:00 pm and it wasn't until approximately 2:00 am (some 7 hours later) when the kids - aged 2, 5 and 7 - were discovered.  Fortunately none of the children were physically injured  but all suffered neglect, all have now been removed from their case, will be sheltered elsewhere, our certified douchebag couple have each been accordingly and additionally charged and, now the taxpayers of Broward County will bear the costs for them to be prosecuted in both criminal and dependency courts, and, if they that they are indigent, then tack on each of their lawyers in  both if their cases (4 lawyers).
