How do you Reinstate you FL Driver License when it's Suspended from another State? ~ Chosen as "Best Answer" by Asker on AVVO ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Q:     What can I do to reinstate my license in Florida, when I have obligations in Massachusetts?  In 2009 i was charged with reckless endangerment and other vehicular violations in the state of Massachusetts. Since I have not been able to obtain my drivers license. I am required to take a psych evaluation for the state of Massachusetts before reinstated. That required me to reside in the state for a period of no less than 6 months. I am currently attending college, which makes getting there quite tedious as well as not being able to obtain employment. I need to know what I can do in my current location ( Port Saint Lucie Florida) to expedite the process. I am an indigent, so paying for legal representation is implausible. Any direction to statutes and or taking preemptive classes would be Much appreciated. Resolving this matter is of the utmost importance and lifting this hindrance to my life.

Answered You are 100% certain going to have to resolve the MA issues before FL (FL-DMV) will allow you to reinstate.

FL (as do all 50 States) share (and respect) DL information from other States. Unfortunately, until such time as MA gives FL the green light FL wil honor MA's suspension. You may or may not be able to prove that it wasn't you, and there may be more expedient and cost effective methods at tackling that problem, but you will need to address the same with a MA lawyer. Accordingly, I respectfully suggest that you report this question but instead of listing your location as "Port St. Lucie, FL", you instead state it as "________, MA". In that way MA lawyers will see and be able to respond to your question.

If I were you I would also contact FL-DMV directly and ask them what they suggest that you do to resolve the issue. In my nearly a quarter of a century of practice I have found that if you follow the rule of the 3 "p"'s (be patient, pleasant and polite) then the very informed and potentially helpful folks at DMV in Tallahassee can and will answer your questions and provide you with spot-on guidance at the drop of a dime. You can call them during normal weekday business hours at 850-617-2000.

I hope that I have been helpful in answering your question.
