FL Couple are Arrested for Aggravated Child Abuse after Zip-Tying their 12 y/o Daughter's Hands & Feet Together & Locking her in a Playhouse ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Meet 53 year old Dr. Eugenio Erquiaga, a Sarasota, FL Radiologist, and his wife, 51 year old Victoria Erquiaga, a licensed Florida lawyer.  That's their mug shots below....

And here they are side by side, donning stylish and standard issued Sarasota County Jail orange jumpsuits at a court appearance for their respective felony aggravated child abuse charges...

These "professionals" were arrested after a neighbor, 19 year old Sean MacIndoe (who is pictured below with his father), called the police to report that their 12 year old daughter had knocked on his door (he lives with his parents two (2) doors away from the Erquiaga family) and that she had "restraints on her wrists and her ankles, and that she said she had run away because her parents had 'abandoned' her".

Detectives ultimately entered the Erquiaga home and found a playhouse with a door that could be barricaded shut by way of a large block of wood in the 12 year old girl's loft bedroom. Detectives noted that all but one (1) of the playhouse windows had been screw-closed shut and that it smelled strongly of urine.  Detectives also observed that a hook was mounted inside of the playhouse and allege that the parents later confessed that they would tie their daughter's ankle restraints to it so she could not kick the wooden structure apart.

The subject twelve (12) year old reportedly told investigators that she was sometimes kept locked up for so long that she was forced to wet herself, and her siblings were reported to have confirmed this to police.  Per Detective Chad McDonald:  "The playhouse is aesthetically pleasing from the outside but can only be described as a glorified cage when examined close... It's more like [something that] you would keep someone penned in... [The parents] say they were at wits end as far as how to best handle her and her needs. And they would do that to protect her, they said, from herself or the seven other children that were living within the home." The Erquiaga's reportedly claimed to police that locked the girl up because she was prone to violent outbursts and needed to be restrained to protect her and her seven (7) siblings.  Per the Erquiaga's attorney, Derek Byrd: "A family with a ton of kids in the house were doing what they can to help that child with behavioral issues."

Memo to the Erquiagas:  Seriously?  Tie-wrapping a 12 year old in a secured fortress and leaving for who knows where and for who knows how long?  A lawyer and a doctor?  Well I am not a psychic but I reasonably foresee a great deal of difficulty in your ability to rationally explain yourselves and your intentional actions to a Judge.

Memo to the Erquiagas continued:   Some folks are into the whole hog-tie / bondage thing... but not 12 year old girls.... not in this country anyhow...
