This douche baggerous parent has been arrested and charged with reckless conduct after his six (6) year old daughter, Ja'Mecca Smith, found a loaded handgun in his apartment and tragically shot and killed herself.
This douche baggerous parent has been arrested and charged with reckless conduct after his six (6) year old daughter, Ja'Mecca Smith, found a loaded handgun in his apartment and tragically shot and killed herself.
Ja'Mecca reportedly found the loaded handgun between her father's sofa cushions and fired it at herself. Atlanta Police Officers arrived on scene at around 11:00 am and found Ja'Mecca dead. Although the father initially fled from the house after the shooting he returned shortly afterwards for police questioning. Also on scene were the little girl's heartbroken family, friends and neighbors, who could be seen breaking down in tears as they clung to each other outside the family's home following news of the toddler's death
There were reportedly four (4) other children inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, none of whom were physically injured but all of whom are certain to carry psychological and emotional scars for life.

Memo to the Folks: Believe it or not, it is only a second degree misdemeanor to fail to properly store or secure a firearm from a minor in Florida (see F.S. 790.174); it is also apparently a misdemeanor offense in GA (see G.C. Title 15, Chapter 5, Article 4), and in the meantime six (6) year old Ja'Mecca is d-e-a-d... and all because her father is the ultimate f'ing douche bag.

Memo to Demargo Smith continued: An accident is, by definition, an "unplanned and spontaneous occurrence". What happened here was not an accident. To the contrary it is a completely foreseeable and reasonably predictable outcome of leaving a loaded firearm within the reach of a child. You did not have to have a crystal ball to know this was coming...

The trade off of not being able to easily access them pales in comparison to the security of knowing that my kid cannot possible do so, much less, potentially discharge any of them.
