Burglary FAIL! Denver Burglar is "Done in by Doo-Doo": Man Leaves Skid-Marked Underwear in a Bathroom at Crime Scene and a DNA Match Leads to his Arrest ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Meet 49 y/o Rodney Mark Hendrix of Denver, CO.  That's his (most recent) mug shot below...

Back in August, 2014 a burglary was reported at the Denver Co-Op Preschool and the adjacent "Community Christ" building.  Two (2) guitars and numerous electronic items valued at just over $4,000.00 were reportedly stolen.  Both the means of entry and the burglary suspect(s) were unknown, but a pair of "soiled shorts" were recovered by staff from in the school's restroom, and they were secured in a plastic bag and turned over to the cops.
The skid marked shorts were submitted to the crime lab for DNA testing and, lo and behold, inside of a month they came back with a positive hit for our hero, who's DNA had been entered into the law enforcement database due to his prior criminal history.

Cops returned to the school and, after verifying that Rodney was neither an employee nor an invitee of / onto the premises, knew that they had their man and secured an arrest warrant.

It took until October 2nd, 2015 for prosecutors to file a Complaint and Information charging Rodney with two (2) counts of Burglary, one (1) count of Identity Theft and two (2) counts of Theft.

Memo to the Folks:  Police crime labs are notoriously slow.  In this case it took over a year (13.5 months) for the crap-coated shorts to make their way through the forensic process but, once they did, the proverbial sh*t hit the fan.  It is increasingly common for State's (and the feds) to gather and collect DNA evidence.  In Colorado (upon information and belief) DNA samples are taken from everyone upon being booked for a felony (note that Florida has similar provisions, please see F.S. 943.325 by clicking here).  I cannot speak to Colorado but in Florida your DNA is not only collected and stored in Florida's Statewide DNA Database but it is also submitted to the CODIS (the FBI's Combined DNA Index System, which facilitates the storage and exchange of DNA records submitted to the database by federal, state and local forensic DNA labs). If you are either acquitted of the charge or if the case is reversed on appeal then you can petition for removal from the State database, but once entered into CODIS your DNA is forever entered into CODIS.

Memo to Rodney Mark Hendrix:  You are the among the crappiest burglars ever.
