An unnamed burglar has an embarrassing story to tell.
The man, who was in the process of burglarizing a Texas home, wound up surrendering to authorities after believing that a police officer who was barking was an actual K-9.
The man, who was in the process of burglarizing a Texas home, wound up surrendering to authorities after believing that a police officer who was barking was an actual K-9.
While working at his car repair shop a mechanic named Roland Azcuy heard the sound of glass breaking and he then saw the burglary suspect enter the home across the street, prompting his 911 call. Concurrently, another neighbor, 78 year old grandmother Ida McGregor, also called 911 about her next-door neighbor's house being burglarized.
Responding Houston Police Officer Orus Baldwin and his partner decided that the best tactic to use was to pretend that they had a police K-9 with them in an effort to intimidate the man into surrendering, and it worked.
Per neighbor Roland Azcuy: "One of the officers told (the suspect) he had a K9 with him, so, (one of the officers) started barking like a dog and the guy hit the ground. He laid down. They handcuffed him and brought him out."
"It wasn't me" Officer Baldwin told local KHOU tv while laughing... "My partner can pretty well sound like a pretty bad dog. But, anyway, it fooled (the suspect)."

Memo to the Folks: Better safe than sorry. Unless you are a complete masochist being bitten by a police K-9 should not be high on anyone's list of things to do.
