DUI FAIL! A Highly Intoxicated Retired Police Officer Rams a Debarking School Bus Killing 1 Kid and Injuring 4 Others, with a Pregnant Woman Chaser ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Meet 48 y/o John Camfield, a retired law man who reportedly worked for ten different police agencies in Mississippi (including Yalobusha County Sheriff's Office, Tunica County Sheriff's Office, Oxford Police Department and Hernando Police Department) prior to retiring and moving to Davenport, Polk County, Florida in 2012.   That's his mug shot below.

On Thursday, April 27, 2017, at about 5:00 pm, the former cop was driving so drunk that he did not remember crashing his car into a parked school bus that was debarking children (a scene that was reportedly described by Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd as "hitting the children and scattering them like a bowling ball through bowling pins") and then careening into another vehicle that was occupied by a pregnant woman.

Five children were injured, including 13 y/o Jahiem Roberterson (who is pictured below and) who died from his injuries.  Of the four other injured children one of them, 14 y/o Juan Mena had to be airlifted to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Orlando, suffering life-threatening injuries and is reportedly in critical condition.

Coincidentally, at the tprecise moment of the crash Polk County Deputy Sheriff J.J. Quintana (pictured below) was at that moment on the telephone with his daughter who happened to be at the bus stop when the deadly crash took place.

Deputy Quintana ran, barefoot, to the crime scene and found his daughter safe, but immediately saw the carnage left when Camfield had hit five of his daughter's fellow Dundee Ridge Middle Academy students as they were walking away from the bus stop.

Deputy Quintana arrested Camfield, who had reportedly stumbled out of his car down the street after having struck another car and injuring it's pregnant woman occupant (no, that is not "her" below; it's just a pic of a pregnant woman driving a car for illustration).

Per Deputy Quintana:  "I've been in this job for four years and I've seen a lot.  [But] Nothing compares to hearing your daughter and not being able to help."

Deputy Quintana reported that Camfield was so drunk that after the crash he had no idea an accident had even taken place.  His BAC was .14, and that was 7 hours after his arrest (this not withstanding the fact that Camfield had initially refused to take a breath test after his arrest).  Camfield did, however, take the opportunity to chat-up his would be one-time colleagues by "critiquing the steps they were taking and complimenting them...  He said, 'You guys know what you are doing around here.'"

For his sh*t decision making Camfield now faces 11 serious felony charges, including DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide and is being held in the Polk County Jail on $600,000 bail.

When it comes to the subject of drinking and driving, the best advice that you are ever going to hear is:  "Don't do it!  Get a DD (Designated Driver), not a DUI".

Be smart{er than Former Cop John Camfield}: Don't drink and drive, but, if you do, just say "NO{thing}", don't blow (in FL your 2nd subsequent refusal is a crime) and call me stat at 305-381-8686, 305-798-2220 or 1-888-SHARK-8-1.
