Will I be Arrested & Extradited for Skipping Parole if I leave but Continue to Pay my Fines & Costs? ~ Chosen as "Best Answer" on AVVO ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Q:     Would Idaho extradite me back to PA or would they come after me if a skip parole even if I continue to pay my fines and costs?  I live in PA and need a fresh start.  I have a 31 year old junkie daughter that I need to get away from and a PFA against me with contact allowed for counseling.  My partner is not going and family and friends tease me and are driving me nuts. I am on parole for simple assault, the deadly weapon enhancement was dropped and I am also paying off a DUI.  Parole ends in Oct 2016.

Answered If you are on parole then you don't have either the luxury or the right to decide when you move and where you live; frankly, you need permission. And if you fail to get permission and act sua sponte, even with the best of motives, then you can (and likely will) be quickly stripped of your parole status and sent back to the pokey.

The answer is simple: If you skip parole then you will be in deep doodoo so do not do it.  Find a way to make it through October, 2016 and once you're off parole then get yourself out.  In the interim do not be afraid to speak to your Parole Officer about your situation.  Be honest (but you don't have to be overly honest); just be sincere and heartfelt about your difficult situation and your desire to stay out of trouble and ask if there is anything that your PO can suggest.  You can even say that you'd like to move and ask if there is a way for her/his to assist you.

That said, the bottom line is that you must either find another way (as opposed to "skipping parole") or seek and secure permission first.

I hope that I have been helpful in answering your question.
