FL Man is Indicted by Federal Grand Jury after a Failed Plan to Crash Target Stock Prices by Planting Explosives at Multiple Store Locations ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Meet 49 y/o Mark Charles Barnett of Ocala, FL.  That's him below...

An Indicted was filed on Wednesday, May 10th, 2017 the Middle District of Florida's Federal District Court charging Mark with Attempted Arson, Possession of a Firearm (an explosive device) in Furtherance of a Crime of Violence, Possession of a Firearm (an explosive device) by a Convicted Felon (Mark is a registered sex offender in Florida), Possession of an Unregistered Firearm (an explosive device) and Unauthorized Making of a NFA Firearm (an explosive device) all in connection with his derailed scheme of plotting and conspiring to set off explosions in various Target stores.

And just why did Mark want to blow up Target stores you might ask? Was it because of unreasonably long check-out or customer service lines, or due to either un- or under-stocked shelves, or maybe because of poor customer service, or perhaps negative experiences with staff.... Nope.... None of the above.

According to the United States' government Mark's plan - to recruit someone to deliver packages purportedly containing food but which were also filled with explosives (in the form of home made black powder bombs) to multiple locations, including Target stores in Florida, Virginia and New York - was hatched so that Mark could financially benefit from a plunge in Target's stock price.

Yes, you read that right... Mark figured that multiple bombings at Target stores across the US would cause stock prices to plummet, allowing him to buy low, sell high and bank coin.

Although the Indictment did not come down until May 10, Mark was arrested on Valentine's Day (February 14, 2017) by a team of federal, state and local officials in a parking lot in Ocala.  The arrest came after one of Mark's friends ratted him out to law enforcement.  (** Side note... the rat may not have been a friend to Mark but s/he sure was to the rest of society. **)

According to the Criminal Complaint Mark offered his friend $10,000.00 to place packages of food filled with explosives at Target stores along the East Coast in February, 2017, and on February 9th Mark allegedly delivered 10 food boxes containing breakfast bars, stuffing and pasta, as well as black powder bombs to his friend. Mark also also provided a bag of gloves, a mask and a license plate cover, after which his friend went and made delivery to authorities, explaining that Mark had hoped to buy Minnesota-based Target stock after the price had plunged.

The criminal complaint alleges that an explosives expert determined that the bombs were capable of causing property damage, serious injury or death to anyone who was near the item if it exploded, and when federal agents searched Mark's Ocala home they reportedly discovered components consistent with those used to create the tendered explosive devices.

Per Special Agent Daryl McCrary, of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Tampa, FL Field Division:  "The swift work of ATF special agents, explosives enforcement officers and other specialized violent crime resources foiled this individual's plot that could have caused great harm to the public".

Memo to the Mark Charles Barnett:  What ever happened to insider trading?  Not only are you a horribly stupid criminal but you are also, apparently, a sociopathic a**hole.  I do not encourage people to commit crimes (financially motivated or otherwise), but if you're gonna try to make an illicit buck then can't you find a way to do so without using bombs to destroy property and potentially injure, maim or kill others?  Here's a thought for you:  How's about you watch the following 21 second clip from the movie "Big Daddy"... its an apropos "how to save money on groceries scene" (click here to watch), which, one could argue, that you took too it's most absurd but logical conclusion when you hatched your nefarious plan.
