Apple iOS 11 will include "Do not Disturb while Driving" Mode that automatically activates once your iPhone connects to your Car ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

TWD:  Texting while driving.  It is as perilous as impaired driving.

Yesterday (June 5th, 2017) Apple announced that as part of it's iOS 11 update (presently scheduled for Autumn, 2017) it is launching a "Do Not Disturb While Driving" feature which will disable many iPhone features while your phone is connected to your car.

While calls will still come in the feature will reportedly automatically prevent notifications from popping up when it senses that you are in the car.  This includes blocking both text and WhatsApp messages, news updates and locking the iPhone screen to prevent drivers from accessing their apps while driving.   Apps that will still be available for use reportedly include Apple Maps and Google Maps, although users allegedly won't be able to input destinations once the car is in motion (just like the nav system in my car... Safe?  Yes.  Pain in the a**?  Most definitely).

The "Do Not Disturb While Driving" feature will detect when your iPhone is connected to a car using either Bluetooth or a cable, and if the car is moving, then it is designed to withhold any notifications that could distract you, but the feature will reportedly be "optional" for passengers, who can choose to disable it if they would like.

In a blog post (which you can read by clicking here) announcing the update, a spokesperson for Apple said: "iOS 11 introduces a new way to help drivers stay more focused on the road with Do Not Disturb while driving.  iPhone can detect when you may be driving and automatically silence notifications to keep the screen dark.  Users have the option of sending an auto reply to contacts listed in Favorites to let them know they are driving and cannot respond until they arrive at their destination."
