Bicycle Thief gets Lassoed by a Horse-Riding Oregon Cowboy in a Walmart Parking Lot and is Detained until Cops Arrive ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Meet 28 y/o Robert Borba of Eagle Point, Oregon.  That's him below....

Robert is a rancher and former rodeo performer and was in the right place at the right time... a Walmart in Eagle Point, Oregon, when 23 y/o Victorino Arellano-Sanchez tried to steal a mountain bike from a woman in the parking lot.

Robert overheard a woman screaming while he was loading dog food and a camping tent onto his truck.  When he realized that Arellano-Sanchez was attempting to steal the mountain bike from a woman in front of the Walmart Robert leaped into action.  In his own words, because he "just don't run very fast", Robert brought his horse named "Long John" out of his trailer and saddled up. In the interim Arellano-Sanchez was struggling with the gears on the bike so decided to flee on foot, which made it easier for Robert to use his lasso to bring the bike bandit down.

With his legs tied, Arellano-Sanchez could only flail around as Robert literally dragged him across the parking lot.  "Do you have a badge to do this?" Arellano-Sanchez reportedly asked.  At one point Arellano-Sanchez grabbed onto a tree and tried to use it to pull himself free, but Robert kept the rope taut while cops arrived.

About is exploits Robert would say:  "I use a rope every day, that's how I make my living.  If it catches cattle pretty good, it catches a bandit pretty good."  Eagle Point Police Sergeant Darin May would say:  "We've never had anyone lassoed and held until we got there.  That's a first for me."

After the arrest, Robert, who was still seated atop of on Long John, reportedly asked police "Can I have my rope back?  I've gotta go.", but perhaps Robert should have said "Hi-Yo, Silver!  Away!"
