Tough Love & Hardcore Parenting! Mother turns in her Shoplifting Teenage Son after she had recognized him on the News ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Meet 18 year old Jonathan Ratcliff of Indianapolis.  That's his mug shot below...

Jonathan was arrested in connection with a series of thefts after his mother (note that some reports name his grandfather) called police and ratted him out, having seen her son's face in surveillance footage on the news.

Jonathan stands accused of being part of a group of teenagers who have reportedly terrorized store workers by repeatedly running into a specific Philips 66 gas station and stuffing backpacks full of candy.  Far from being master criminals, the teenage boys failed to hide their faces and were captured on surveillance footage, which caught Jonathan's mother's eye when it was shown on local news channels.  Per Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's Sgt. Kendale Adams:  "Mom saw the video that was released and did the right thing coming forward."

Cops reportedly had a lead on Jonathan anyhow as, during one of the unsolved theft cases a perp threw his backpack at the store clerk and, inside the backpack were homework assignments with Jonathan's name clearly written on them.  His mom's call provided reasonable suspicion but, per Sgt. Adams, once he was in custody Jonathan reportedly gave investigators enough evidence to charge him with theft: "He gave some statements that implicated him in three of the four [thefts] that we were looking at."

Cops are still searching for 4 other juvenile accomplices and gas station owner Randy Singh (who is pictured below) will be happy once they're caught, stating that: "It's like 500 to 600 dollars each time you know. There's seven kids and they keep doing it. They never stop."

Memo to the Folks:   There's nothing easy about being a parent.  Never was.  Never will be.  And there's no instruction manual.  We all have to do it our own way.  I don;t begrudge Jonathan's mother for doing what she did, as I'm pretty sure that she felt that she had no choice, as a parent.  Tough love.  Sometimes it's necessary.
