Woman Lies About having Breast Cancer and is caught after Co-Workers raised $17k to help with Chemo but she showed no Side-Effects ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1




Meet 25 y/o Hillary McLellan of Sebago, Maine.  That's her below...




Hillary worked as a bartender at the Depot Street Tap House in Bridgton, Maine...




Apparently she was beloved at work and when she told her co-workers and employer that she had breast cancer everyone was concerned for her health.  




The timeline (reportedly as told by Hillary's boss, Carrye Castleman-Ross):  In October, 2015 Hillary first claimed to have been diagnosed with breast cancer, in February 2016 she claimed to be in remission and in the Summer of 2016 Hillary claimed that her cancer had returned "with a vengeance", having spread to her blood and lymph nodes.  And so, in October, 2016 Hillary's boss and co-workers held a benefit event for her, raising some $17,000 for her cancer-related expenses.  The proceeds, composed of $10,500 in checks and the balance in cash was put into a joint bank account that was set up by Carrye Castleman-Ross.




After that things went south for Hillary, fast.  Why?  Well apparently because Carrye is neither blind nor dumb.  Despite her employee's supposed chemotherapy and radiation cancer treatments Hillary's hair was not falling out and she seemed to be in good health.  So, after a while Carrye picked up the phone and called Hillary's father, who reportedly said that he did not know anything about his daughter's alleged illness, causing Carrye's BS meter to ping right.




Carrye called the cops and at their direction she, together with a few of Hillary's friends, reportedly grilled her about her cancer claims, on camera, until Hillary finally admitted the truth of the matter, allegedly saying "Okay, I don't have cancer", after which the video tape was turned over to the police.




Hillary was Indicted on May 5, 2017 for one count of "Theft by Deception", more specifically being accused of effectively stealing $10,500 from 16 business and individuals from October 2, 2015 - January 27, 2017.   




Hillary's former roommate and colleague at Depot Street Tap House, Molly Bean, reportedly drove Hillary to many of her chemotherapy and radiation appointments, was always told not to come inside, as "She [Hillary] said, 'I don't want you to see me hooked up to machines."' Per Molly:  "I thought she was skipping treatments. Never in a million years did I think she wasn't sick."  




Hillary's friends reportedly think that Hillary did not lie for money; rather they believe that she lied for attention, and possibly that she suffered from mental illness.  Regardless, she no longer works at the Depot Street Tap House and, if she is convicted, then Hillary faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.  




On January 31, 2017 and on it's Facebook page the Depot Street Tap House posted a heartfelt statement acknowledging "that we were being duped by our employee who we all thought has been fighting cancer for over a year. This charismatic, seemingly beloved community member took advantage of our compassion and generosity and maintained the charade until Sunday, when, with the support of local law enforcement, we were able to get a confession from her."




Memo to the Folks:  Being ripped off sucks.  Being ripped off and lied to sucks worse.  But being ripped off and lied to by someone who has the ability to tug on your heartstrings, well that is betrayal and it sucks the worst.  




Memo to Hillary McLellan:  As crazy as it may sound I hope for your sake that there is a mental health explanation for your behavior (I mean one other than your being a complete and utter sociopath), that you are amenable to receiving real treatment and that you can somehow outlive the scarlet letter that is sure to follow you, especially in a small town, for a long long time.
