Ohio Police take to Facebook to advise the Public to Refrain from Dialing Arrested Meth Dealer's Cell Phone as it was interfering with their Investigation ~ Call Michael A. Haber, Esq. @ 1-888-SHARK-8-1

Meet Steve Notman of Alliance, Ohio.  That's him below....

Steve was arrested on suspicion of dealing crystal meth...

and while the Alliance PD was trying to search through his phone for evidence it kept going off, with repeated calls and texts from folks looking for Steve and his, er, product.

So bothersome were the texts and calls that Alliance Police took to social media and posted a plea on their Facebook page which essentially begged drug users to stop calling Steve's cell phone, advising that they were interfering with the investigation.

PLEASE STOP CALLING Steve Notman’s cell phone. He was arrested tonight by SIU detectives….again…. for ALLEGEDLY (on video) selling crystal meth here in Alliance. We have his phone and are trying to read all your texts requesting drugs and going through all of his contacts (with his permission) but you keep calling and texting and it’s really annoying. First of all, he is all out of drugs for tonight. Secondly you don’t need to call – we will come to you soon enough. Oh, and his ringtone is terrible! Thank you so much for your patience.

No one can say that these cops don't have a sense of humor, nor can anyone deny that cops are increasing turning to social media to assist them in conducting their business.  Whether it's proactive or reactive, creative or investigative, investigating crime or providing opportunity for new would-be offenses, law enforcement is increasingly using social media to accomplish their ends.  Take a look at HaberPA's YouTube Webisode / Video FAQ on Social Media and the law by clicking here or on the video link below...

And consider that cops conduct many a "Sting Op" on the internet as well (please see HaberPA's YouTube Webisode / Video FAQ on "Do Police conduct Sting Operations on the Internet?" by clicking here or on the video link below)...

When it comes to the subject of "Cops, Courts and Constitutions" you should always have a skilled and experienced criminal defense attorney who is focused on serving your interests.  While we can't stop the cops from arresting you, as your legal counsel Michael A. Haber, PA will ensure that your rights are respected from the moment that representation begins and that any abuses which may have occurred beforehand are remedied.
